Hi, my boyfriend has had nosebleeds. I wouldn t call them frequent, but they occur often. It started about a month ago. He d have them on and off, maybe two in one week, and then they d stop. Then the next week he d get one and then they d stop. When he was younger he had them and doctors said he needed the vein in his nose burnt. He had a headache two days ago and today he had a nosebleed again. Is there any cause for worry? He s going to see a doctor soon.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Nose bleed is called 'epistaxis'. It occurs due to fragile blood vessels present in the 'Little's area' in the mucosa lining the nasal cavity. Often, bleeding occurs as a result of nose picking, nasal congestion or nasal infection. The best treatment as has been advised is getting the blood vessels burnt by means of electrocautery. This is just a minor procedure done under local anesthesia under aseptic conditions. Hence nothing much to worry about it. Kindly get it done at the earliest as it would solve most of his problems related to nose. Hope the information provided would be useful. Take care and best wishes.
