Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Ringworm Infection On The Arms

I have had ringworm for the past 3 years. It began on my neck and in the last year has migrated to my inner elbow area on BOTH arms. I have a prescription for BACTRIM 800/160and have been using topical ointments regularly. What else can I do to get rid of this ?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is a fungus and generally a fungus medicine would be prescribed (diflucan, itraconazole, nystatin on the skin, etc.). Then there is the prevention. Keeping the areas dry and free from cracks in the skin. Also washing with iodine soap. Also, laundering everything with some bleach and drying at high heat to kill residual yeast.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman
