1. Since the disease is chronic [9 years] and recurrent thus treatment with an anticonvulsant drug is recommended to achieve seizure free status without adverse effect(s) and initially single drug is preferred than polytherapy as older anticonvulsant agents have hepatic enzyme–inducing properties that decrease the serum level of the concomitant drug, thereby increasing the required dose of the concomitant drug.
2. Since people with recurrent seizure often require psychosocial adjustment thus social and/or vocational rehabilitation may be needed and will require a neurologist or an epileptologist for further workup, and later a neurosurgical consultation is recommended when the possibility of surgical management is considered.
