Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I have had recurring sinus infections for years and after having a ct scan a couple of weeks ago shown I have very small maxillary sinus on the right hand side. The scan also shows the roots of a highly located wisdom tooth in the area and I was wondering if this may be the cause of the sinus problems? I have a copy of ct scan to review. Thanks
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...
As per your complain if the roots of wisdom tooth are present with the sinus it is a common finding in many individuals and it will not cause sinus infection until the tooth gets deeply infected leading to infection reaching below the root tips of the tooth and causing transfer of infection into the sinus cavity.. You can consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated for any tooth infection in wisdom tooth so that this cause can be checked for.. If it is not the case treatment of Sinusitis has to be done with antibiotics, painkillers, decongestant, saline nasal irrigation and steam inhalation..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
