Suggest Treatment For Recurring UTI And Blood In Urine

Hi, i was treated for a urinary track infection three times within 5 months. Last month my urine was tested at my OBGYN and it came up with a high level of blood. She had me go to a lab the next morning to get my urine tested to see what antibiotic would work best and had me start on an antibiotic right after that test. I never heard back from her and I finished the antibiotic. Sunday I was standing in my kitchen and had a painful twinge on the outside area, burning and some pain from urinating. I started on an Antibiotic that we had at home Bactrim DS. The Dr. returned my call on tuesday and when I asked her what the test results said she said it came up negative for a uriniary track infection. I said now what she said and she said to try to go to a urologist. I cant get the office to call me back for an appointment and the discomfort is getting worse the antibiotic does not seem to be working. Any opinion on what may be wrong? I was even thinking of going to the hospital while waiting for an appointment. YYYY@YYYY Thank you, Debbie

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Your case may be infection in upper part of urinay system like bladder. To confirm the same before going for appropriate antibiotis cystoscopy is required and will be better done under qualified urologist guidance.dont mess up your situation with home antibiotics as this will increase resistance of the bacteria in your body.you can take plenty of oral fluids that to some extent wash away the bacteria from urinary tract.if your pain is more you can go to ER from where you will be referred to specialist.
