Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
HI MY HUSBAND HAS HAD 4 BOWEL OBSTUCTIONS SINCE OCT 2014. THE FIRST TIME & SECOND TIME HE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL 6 WEEKS. THE THIRD TIME HE WAS IN 3 WEEKS THE FOURTH TIME 3 DAYS. IS THIS SOMETHING WE HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TO. WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS A LAPRISCOPY THEY CAN DO .THANKS YYYY@YYYY
As per my clinical experience, the recurrent bowel obstruction indicates significant pathology underlying involving either small intestine or large intestine. Post operative adhesions are responsible for more than 90% of intestine obstruction.
However, rest of the conditions as tuberculosis, electrolyte imbalance and others have to be sorted out. In my clinic, after radiology work up of x-ray of abdomen standing ultrasound of the abdomen & pelvis, I do recommend a diagnostic laparoscopy (which may prove curative when adhesions are the sole cause).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.
