Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi - 3 yrs ago I had a cyst that my Dr drained on my arm pit. Since then I keep getting little ones here and there (all under my arm pits) that I can get to go away by either putting a warm compress on them or running the hot water on them when in the shower. Lately I have been noticing they are getting slightly bigger (when they pop puss and blood come out) just wondering if I have anything to be concerned about. Thank you
here can be various causes of armpit swelling. We need to have detailed clinical history and physical examination and also investigations for them because they are there since a long time and are recurring.
These swellings are usually swollen lymph nodes which are commonly due to infection( bacterial or viral) of the surrounding area. Sometimes they can be due to some allergy or due to lipoma ( collection of fatty tissue). Even some blood related disorders( leukaemia or lymphoma) can also cause these swellings.
So I feel that the best thing in your case is to get some investigations done like complete blood count, esr, crp, Ultrasound of the area and biopsy (or fnac- taking the part or whole of swelling and doing the test).
This will help us to make the exact diagnosis. Then we can plan the proper treatment.I hope my advice helps.
Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Milinda Gupta
