Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For a month I have had recurring episodes of Epistaxis. Today I went to an ENT expecting him to go to the next stage up for treatment but he just cauterized the vessel. I have had two cauterizations, now three and two insertions already, what would be a solution to the problem - I seem to just be going round and round.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Epistaxis occurs due to fragile blood vessels present in the 'Little's area' of nose. It can be precipitated by nose picking, nasal congestion due to allergies and infections. The best remedy to overcome it is by undergoing cautery. Your doctor has done the right procedure and it should help to stop bleeding permanently. Kindly take care and take prompt treatment when you experience problems like cold and respiratory tract infections. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
