Suggest Treatment For Recurring Hoarseness And Loss Of Hearing

I have recurring hoarsness for about 3 years now. Earlier this year I lost hearing in my right ear. Presently, I just finished 10 days of ammocicillin, 875 mg 2x a day. Last week my left ear hurt and a line below it in my throat was so sore I could barely swallow. This week I have this on the right side. I have seen an ENT, Pulminary doctor, and an allergist, a heart doctor, and a gastroengronologist. I am being treated for asthma and silent acid reflux, which isn t helping. // YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, you should continue follow up with an otolaryngologist and if problem persists, you should get CT scan or MRI of head and neck area with paranasal sinuses view and eustachian tube as it can be likely infection of nasopharyngeal which is extending through eustachian tube into middle ear and may need injectable antibiotics if oral have failed. Meanwhile anti inflammatory drugs and anti histamines may be helpful.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin
