Suggest Treatment For Recurring Infection On The Scalp
I have recurring infection on the scalp for the past 2 to 3 years. I have been given Isotane 10 tablets and othe lotions to apply over time but now the infection has flared up. Now I am prescribed R-cin 600 cap once daily for 10 days along with Fusirose lotion to be applied every morning and evening & Kertyol PSO shampoo to be applied alternate day. I am 59 yrs old male - will turn 60 next month. I do not have diabetes. I have hypertension but under control with daily medication. I am otherwise healthy. I understand R-cin 600 is mainly used for TB and that has made me wonder why this is prescribed. Will appreciate your answer. Thank you.
hi it depends on the type of the infection you are having, it can be fungal or bacterial. each infection is treated differently. hygiene of scalp is important as well as avoiding of use of shared items eg sharing of combs, use of razors when cut your hair etc to avoid recurrence. if fungal infection you need to be given antifungal tabs n cream and if bacterial then given antibiotics. i would suggest if you can visit your nearest dermatologist for a review of infection hope to have answered your query. thanks and with regards dr zainab.
