Suggest Treatment For Recurring Nightmares

I have night terrors. It's not all the time; couple times a year maybe. I remember them vividly and can remember the ones from when I was little. People think that it's odd that I have dreams almost every night and remember basically every one. Anyways, is there anything I can do to stop these night terrors or constant dreams. ?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern. Nightmares are frightening dreams that usually occur in REM (Rapid eye movement) sleep and awakes the individuals from sleep. Recurring nightmares, increased REM sleep could point towards some underlying depressive disorder. You have been having these dreams continuously and in my opinion you should consult a psychiatrist for help. Medicines like Melatonin agonists as Ramelteon, Melatonin etc can help to normalise the sleep architecture and can help to reduce these nightmares. Please consult a psychiatrist for help. Sleep at least 6-7 hours a day and if possible dont sleep more than that period of time.

Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care.
