Suggest Treatment For Recurring Red Rashes On The Buttocks Of A Child
My 5 year old son has a recurring rash on his butt cheeks. It is perfectly symmetrical (identical on both cheeks). When I first saw it I asked him if he had fallen, or if someone had hit him across the bum. No to both. He is always snotty , always has a bit of cough, but no rash anywhere else. He had foot and mouth when he was 4. Could it be anything to do with this?
Though its very difficult to say for sure about skin problems without seeing at them so it would be great if you could share a picture with us. However, from the history, it appears that he might have a skin allergy called atopic dermatitis. This is an allergy and may be related to the nose problems and cough. Its treated with anti-allergic and sometimes topical steroids but first, it must be properly diagnosed by viewing the lesions. You can show him to a local doctor or share pictures with us.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
