Suggest Treatment For Recurring Respiratory Infection In A Toddler
Hi Doctor, I have a 4 years old son and he has developed frequent upper respiratory infection (recent case of one wheezing also) followed by occasional bronchitis and one occurrence of pneumonia when he was 2.5 years old. Doctors have often prescribed nebulization as combinations of Budecort, Asthalin, Duolin etc (He has reportedly eczema since he was 6 months old). I am little worried over his much frequent use of nebulization. Is it really safe because there are various myths among public over its usage in general? What are the long term implications of its use basically? Do we have other alternatives?
He may need to take nebulizer as advised by doctor because it is necessary to him to provide better breathing. I think he is having asthma or allergic cough. Get him check by a pneumologist pediatrician. Let's hope that his situation will get better as he grows up.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
