Suggest Treatment For Recurring Scab On The Scalp

Don t get grossed out, but about a month ago, my scalp got a sunburn and at the top it peeled. It kept peeling for a little while, then got a recurring scab and now I have about 3 scabs near the crown of my head and it feels like I have sand on the rest of my head. I can rub down through my hair and it feels like sand is just peeling down through my hair with an inordinate amount of oil with it. If you look at my scalp, you can see the scabs but nothing else, but you can feel the sandy stuff. My scalp has never been oily. My skin stays on the dry side all over. Also in all of this last month, it has not itched at all, it just bothered me that it is like this, but today it has started itching me bad.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Recurrent scab and ulceration can be a sign of some advanced form of disease like skin cancer. No to freak you out, but a clinical examination and investigation is must as sun scar should heal within a week.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Loveleen Sharma, General & Family Physician
