Hello,
You are suffering from recurrent severe itch on lower legs. You had been on your prescription medicine by your treating doctor. Recurrent severe itch is commonly due to poor hygiene, dry skin, diabetes, eczema,
contact dermatitis, etc. You are suggested to maintain hygiene, take bath with a mild soap and then apply a moisturizer, preferably water based to help keep skin from drying out. Do not share your toiletries and avoid wearing any jewelry, as it may trigger
severe itching.
Take non-sedating antihistamine, once daily to get rid of itching. You can apply Soframycin cream or a thin layer of
Hydrocortisone ointment on the area affected. Maintain your blood glucose level at all cost. High blood glucose level will trigger symptoms. If the itching is due to
fungal infection, take a course of fluconazole orally. Applying Clotrimazole ointment on the affected area will relieve itching. Get in contact of a
dermatologist, you may have to get skin or tissue of the area affected. You will be treated accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
