Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Treatment For Recurring Urinary Tract Infection
I have a UTI with 100 Staph epidermidis growing. It is sensitive to cefazolin, cipro, nitrofurantoin, clox and tetracycline (R to amp and trimethoprim). I suffer from chronic UTIs and suspect that I have IC. I have one standby prescription for a 7 day course of nitrofurantoin and am on a 18 month waiting list to see a specialist. I have had this treatment before but the UTI keeps coming back. I am wondering if I should take a longer course of the antibiotic or a different one. What would you suggest?
