Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Praveen G's Response
Hello, Welcome to HCM,
Some women may have frequent recurrences of yeast infections. This is defined as at least 4 infections a year.
When this occurs there are medications that can be used to reduce the frequency of infection.
Medicine should be taken for a period of minimum 6 months. Some of the medicines like fluconazole, clotrimazole pessary, itraconazole and ketoconazole can be used to treat and prevent frequent fungal infection.
The dose and frequency of these drugs should be decided by your doctor. I would suggest you to speak to your doctor about this option. Thank you.
