Suggest Treatment For Red And Swollen Bumps On The Buttocks

I was laying in bed a few days ago when i noticed my butt was beginning to itch quite a bit and mostly in the crack area. I didn t pay much attention at first but the itching got worse and after a short time i began to feel bumps everywhere. I now have red swollen bumps from the top of my butt crack to the bottom. They ve been there for several days. At first i thought maybe bed bugs but i wash my sheets frequently....help

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be eczema. We have to rule out other causes like underlying abscess also.

As first-line management, you can apply low potency steroid creams like betamethasone for symptomatic relief. If the lesion persists, it is better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
