Suggest Treatment For Red/grey Patch In Mouth Behind Right Cheek

Hi, I used to chew pan masala, but it is 1 year that i have quit using it. But in my mouth, in my right cheek there is a little red color spot and surrounding it is white grey patch. On googling i found it could be dangerous. I went to a dentist, he gave me some ointment to apply. But i am still not satisfied, what should I do?

Brief answer : SPECKLED LEUKOPLAKIA or ERYTHROLEUKOPLAKIA..

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain and explanation of symptoms the red and grey white patches with the history chewing pan masala indicates that you are suffering from Erythroleukoplakia which is a Pre cancerous condition and is characterized by areas showing excessive keratin formation (hyperkeratotic) and atrophic (eroded) areas..

I would suggest you to consult an oral pathologist and get evaluated and the doctor will do a clinical evaluation and biopsy in which he will scrap the lesion and remove the cells and do a microscopic examination..

In case if the diagnosis is confirmed as Speckled leukoplakia the treatment is done by take Anti oxidants like lycopene, intake of Retinoids which are precursors of Vitamin A, multivitamin intake, and topical application of retinoids..

If not recovered Surgical removal of the lesion can be done by an Oral surgeon..

You should strictly stop taking all kinds of tobacco and betel nuts and quit on smoking and drinking if you do..

Take a healthy and high nutrition diet.

Immediately get the treatment started as Speckled leukoplakia has a high chances of conversion into cancer..

Hope this information helps..
