Suggest Treatment For Red Itch Spots Because Of Mosquito Bites
I have small red itchy spots on my arms near elbows, head and chest area. They only appeared this morning and I have noticed more tonight...very itchy. What could this be? I was on holiday 7 weeks ago and got badly bitten by mosquitos could this be a reaction to the bites?
Hi there. It does appear you have an 'insect bite reaction'. This could be a reaction to the mosquito bites or it could be a totally different infection common while travelling called 'Scabies' from your description. Playing the devil's advocate, I advise you to apply to your entire body (sparing face) 5% permethrin cream (HHMite or Permite are common names) & leave it on for 6-8 hours & wash off. Follow this up with the application of a steroid cream called Locoid (1%hydrocortisone butyrate) applied locally twice daily for 3-5 days. This should see you through your problem. If it persists, do drop into Vikram Hospital, Bangalore to see yours truly or use this HCM site to source a dermatologist nearest you. Good Luck. Dr Praveen Rodrigues MD
