Suggest Treatment For Red Rashes While On Amoxicillin

I AM TAKING AMOXICILLIN FOR PAST THREE DAYS (PERSCRIBED BY MY DENTIST AFTER ROOT CANAL) AND I BELEIVE MY SKIN IS HAVING A REACTION TO THIS MEDICINE. I SEE SMALL SCATTERED RED RASH AROUND MY ARMS AND OTHER BODY AREAS. Is this something concerning ? I do feel the need to scratch but just a bit. Thanks Ali

Thanks for the query..

Yes, you have an allergic reaction to the antibiotic Amoxicillin and rashes and bumps is one of the most common presentation of antibiotic allergy..
You should first of all stop taking Amoxicillin as there are many other antibiotics suitable for dental infection so you should consult an Emergency room and get alternate antibiotics..
Take anti allergics like Benadryl or Levocetrizine.
Do cool compresses over the rashes and apply calamine lotion to soothe the skin..
