Suggest Treatment For Red Swollen Spot On The Leg After A Bee Sting
My son (late 20 s) was stung by bees and his leg swelled up the next day and he had a red line going down his leg. He went to the doctor and they prescribed an anti-biotic. After several days the swelling went down but I am wonder does this mean he is allergic to bee stings?
The most important thing is to watch for signs of infection such as pus secretion fever or swelling of extremity and in this case, you should see a doctor who will probably prescribe antibiotics.
Otherwise, you need some kind of antihistaminic ointment. Also, Apply an ice pack to a bite or sting for 15 to 20 minutes once an hour for the first 6 hours.
It is important not to scratch or manipulate the wound to prevent infection. You may cover the wound with a thin layer of petroleum jelly, such as Vaseline, and a nonstick bandage.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon

Try a nonprescription medicine for the relief of itching, redness, and swelling such as Benadryl or Chlor-Trimeton. Hydrocortisone 1% cream or calamine lotion may also be helpful.
