Suggest Treatment For Red Welt Like Bumps On Tibia

For 3 months I have developed a raised welt=like lesion on my tibia. It is not itchy, not painful, seems to be more prominant with pressure from a sock after a whole day on my feet. After it subsides it looks like a bruise. It is about 4-5 cm in diameter

Hello,

You have red welt like bumps on the skin above your tibia. It become more prominent from the socks you wear whole day. It is commonly caused due to allergy due to pollen, animal dander, dust, etc. You should avoid the usage of body lotions and creams which are high in chemicals to save yourself from welts on the skin. Do not scratch the skin as rashes on skin after scratching may take more time to heal.

You should also avoid food you are allergic to. The temperature of your skin affects the healing time. Take bath regularly, keep skin clean. People who have sensitive skin are more prone to get welts. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight as it may worsen your symptoms. To reduce the symptoms, you can take antihistamine at bed time for 3-5 days for relieve.

You can apply ointment hydrocortisone ointment on the affected area. Applying calamine lotion may help to get rid of discomfort. Get clinically examined by a dermatologist. In case of fungal infection, you may need a course of antifungals, fluconazole orally. In severe conditions your dermatologist may recommend ultraviolet radiation. In case of symptoms due to stress and immune disorders, you will be accordingly managed/ treated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
