Suggest Treatment For Redness And Blister After Insect Bite
I got bit by something Tuesday evening - remember slightly waking and scratching it, was a lil painful. Now, redness has spread away from where the bite mark is and is a lil stiff, sore. I read if was a brown recluse it would have a blister that broke open. So, my question is do I need to take off work and see a doctor?
Hi. I've gone through your query and I can understand your anxiety.
Your symptoms might be due beetle bite or some other insects bite.
You have developed local reactions after being bitten. I advice you to
- wash the blister first thoroughly with warm water each day
- apply calamine lotion. If it's not working out then use a topical steroid or antibiotic such as hydrocortisone ointment or cream . This prevents the secondary infection & reduces the redness, itching, swelling and pain.
- Applying a cold compress to the lesion several times a day can also ease swelling and pain
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.
Regards, Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
