Suggest Treatment For Redness And Hot Feeling In Left Leg After Injury

My mother fell up the stairs about an hour ago, her left leg is now red and hot to the touch. Her left leg suffers from lymphoedema and is usually quite cold to the touch because of this. She also has diabetes and has a pacemaker. Is this cause to visit A& E?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
The redness and warmth is due to inflammation that generally sets after any injury.
I would suggest a visit to A&D if she is having severe pain, inability to move limb and swelling to rule out any fracture or joint sprain.
If the above symptoms are not there, give her an over the counter pain killer like tylenol.
Take her to a doctor immediately if there is any open wound or profuse bleeding.
Thank you.
