Suggest Treatment For Redness On Face After Using Hydroquinone
Hi Doctor. Last night I used a cream containing 4% hydroquinone on my acne scars. I had previously used this cream a year ago and it worked well for my scars so i did not do a patch test on this occasion. Thus, i applied it to the areas necessary. Today, I got up and my face seemed fine. There was no sign of irritation so i decided to do a face mask containing bentonite clay and water. After washing this off there was mild redness ( which is normal for me after that face mask so it was nothing to worry much about. I then proceeded to apply some witch hazel and then suncreen by nutrogena (clear skin spf 55). Then, a few hours later, my face is became very red (only in the spots where i applied the hydroquinone cream and not red all over). I am terribly worried. Is this normal? Is it that the face mask did not agree with the hydroquinone? Would the redness go away? What should i do?
As a first line management, you can apply low potency steroid creams like Betamethasone for symptomatic relief. If the lesion persists, it is better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.
