Suggest Treatment For Redness On Leg Along With Fever In A Diabetic Patient

I have a very close friend who is diabetic, and had cardio vein surgery on his right leg both sides plus top of foot and bottom to remove blood clots. he does not have internet access, and is on the phone as he calls me every day to let me know how he is doing. he currently has a fever, and on his right leg it is red app0roximately 3/4 the way up. hye id going to the va for medical care, but their emergency room is not fully staffed nor is the hospital. he has amoxicillian (know it is not the correct spelling), and is wondering if this will help with his fever, and infection until he can go back to the hospital during the week/ I will give my e-mail address but I am only acting as a go between.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The use of the antibiotic may help with the fever and infection if the bacteria is responsive to this antibiotic.

It would be best however, since he is diabetic and therefore may have an impaired immune system, that he visit his doctor or the ER for review as soon as he is able.

I hope this helps
