Suggest Treatment For Resistant Hypertension In An Elderly Diabetic Patient

Hi, My mother is 85 years old suffering from Resistant Hypertension. She takes Metoprolol 100mg twice a day; Amlodipine 10mg and 5mg daily; Terazosin 2mg twice a day... yet her BP is at 195/95 to 215/105. Clonidine, Losartan and Olmesartan were tried. Had severe side effects. What can I do next. She is diabetic too.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult a physician and get evaluated. We have to rule out possible causes like pheochromocytoma and other hormonal problems also. You might require intravenous drugs like Lasix or Labetalol.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
