Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have restless legs and they are driving me crazy. The sensations in my legs and body do not make sense. It has really begun to affect my sleep. It is 2 am and I am up either pacing the floor or sitting and trying to calm down. I take ambien to sleep but is doesn t seem to be helping.
In people with mild to moderate restless legs syndrome, lifestyle changes, such as beginning a regular exercise program, establishing regular sleep patterns, eliminating or decreasing the use of caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco, may be helpful.
Also, some home remedies that may help include: • Leg massages, hot baths or heating pads or ice packs applied to the legs, and good sleep habits • Medications may be helpful but are used only in severe cases and maybe Neupro, Requip, or benzodiazepines. Anticonvulsants or antiseizure drugs such as Tegretol, Lyrica, or Neurontin
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
