Hello,

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease which involves painful joints and stiffness in the body. It needs long term treatment and I assume you are aware of it and you are following your doctor’s instructions.

The medicines that are given in this illness help mainly to slow down progression of the disease. Another most important thing is the more you are active physically, more benefits you get.

As you mentioned after getting up the back pain is there and walking around reduces it. Again when physical activity is not there the pain comes back.

When a patient comes to me with such complains, first thing I ask them to do is keep doing exercise that has been taught by the physiotherapist.

And if the patients are not aware of the exact way of doing exercise then I suggest them to see a physiotherapist and get help on that which helps them in improvement of symptoms.

If the back pain persists for long some pain relieving medicines help.

My advice to you is to see your rheumatologist regarding the complaint. If needed he will ask you to do some blood tests and imaging tests and after careful evaluation you will be given appropriate treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
