Suggest Treatment For Rosacea With Red And Itchy Eyelids
I have recently had blepharitis & a recurrence of rosacea symptoms. My rosacea tends to affect my eyes more than facial skin, altho there is some cheek redness at times. My eyelids have become red & they can be itchy & sometimes burning & I have red streaks underneath my eyes which can be painful. The eyelids are swollen & puffy to a varying degree at various times, but this makes my eyes feel very tired. I have had this for about 3 weeks & it waxes & wanes. I have had very mild, transient symptoms like this in the past, but they have never persisted for long, as this time. Would this be rosacea or perhaps a dermatitis or what? How could it be treated? Thanks for your input.
You are right. It may be rosacea. Consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment.
After a thorough examination and investigation, your doctor might prescribe Tetracycline or Doxycycline in proper doses for a long time. And the local application of Metronidazole gel or Clindamycin gel may be considered. Avoid sun exposure and do not worry.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilyas Patel,
Dermatologist
