Suggest Treatment For Running Nose And Cough For A 15-month-old

Sir/Madam, Good morning. My daughter 15 months old, has running nose & Cough. She had fever 3 days back but no fever now. We stay in Kalyan (Mumbai). We were giving her SolvinCold, but i believe it is not working. Please suggest if we can give her Asthalin? Also, any anti-biotic is required?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Based on the description, it appears that your child doesn't need antibiotic at this stage, since there are no symptoms indicating active infection.
Also, since she doesn't have difficulty in breathing, she doesn't require bronchodilator medications like Asthalin.
To control her cough and runny nose, give medications which contains Chlorpheniramine maleate along with Bromhexine and menthol, as dosage which is recommended. Gradually, she should recover from these symptoms.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
