Suggest Treatment For Scalp Infection

I have some sort of infection under my scalp. I have been taking 5 x 15mg Oxycodone for 5 -7 years for spinal/brainstem pressure/damage. One night I noticed that my scalp seemed to be knotted a bit. What was a bump then, seems to be generating an ongoing infection of some sort, it will weep clear fluid, it seems like blood plasma. The area can seem to heal but with some pressure, it can open and just continue to produce this fluid. It is not that I try to open it but it is difficult to protect one s head at all times. I have opened it by scratching without thought after it has healed for a few weeks or a couple months. Could this be a lymph node? Could it have been from the medication, for which, it seems clear my body is not fond. Could this be the beginning of lymphoma, of which, my mother died? I will have MRIs done of my spine, (C,T,L), in 2 weeks and I had a CT scan of my brain last week and have not yet heard the results.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be an infected wound or pus collection. Consult a general surgeon and get it drained. Antibiotics have to be started. Further treatment will depend on the CT scan reports.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
