Suggest Treatment For Scarring Alopecia, Which Started 5 Years Back

I have scarring alopecia and it was suggested that i get Kenolog injections to stop the inflammation and hair loss. I have already tried other type of oral RX s and they have caused more hair loss. I am at a loss as to what to do. It has been over 5 years since this started. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi,

Scarring alopecia is commonly seen with a fungal skin infection, autoimmune diseases.

So better to consult a dermatologist and get done a detailed clinical examination of the skin of that area, biopsy of skin from edges and serum ANA profile (for autoimmune) work up.

If it is autoimmune related then immunosuppression is needed. Immunosuppressive drugs like oral steroids, azathioprine or cyclophosphamide are needed.

Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
