Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a scotoma, oval area of gray, which affects my distance vision (blocks somewhat) my vision. When I have an eye exam I have to turn my head as the gray area is in front of my vision. I had a scleral buckle and gas bubble for a retinal detachment in 2013. What is a scotoma? Is there any hope for treatment to remove the scotoma?
you have ample reason for scotoma . it is opacity in vitreous may be due to gas bubble. consult retina surgeon. if the scotoma is stationery and not not obstructing much of vision then nothing should be done. since you have a history of retinal detachment.if you want to remove it only vitrectomy is to be done. but it may cause more harm. take second opinion.
