Suggest Treatment For Senile Purpura And Skin Tears In An Elderly Woman
I am a provider in Dermatology. I have an elderly female with significant senile purpura and excessively thin skin. Skin tears are a huge problem for her. I did check PT which was normal and CBC. Her RBC just mildly depressed at 3.91,mildly elevated MCH but my concern is her Immature granulocytes are 4.6 (NL 0.001- 0.429 in our lab). She is otherwise healthy. Should I be looking for a malignancy with her and that elevation? Appreciate your insight.
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, if the malignancy need to be ruled out for the purpura then skin or lesion biopsy is the way, else routine blood test can not be ruled out this, hope this information helps.
