Suggest Treatment For Sensitive Bump And Bruising On Right Shin After Injury

Hi, I was playing kickball two weekends ago and, after the game, noticed a large bump on my right shin (the one I kick with) that was sensitive to the touch. The bump gradually went down after a couple hours, but the area was still painful. About a week later, a huge bruise spread across the front of my shin and ankle and now, two weeks later, the bruise is still there and it s somewhat sensitive to the touch. Could this be a fracture? Should I get it checked out/sit out of my kickball game tomorrow? Thanks!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,Dear,Good Morning. Thanks for the query to my HCM online- clinic .I studied your query in-depth.
-In my opinion the right shin bump-isa- the -post-traumatic hematoma,
b-which got burst a week later and spread out as bruise a week later across shin/ankle.
c-2 wks thereafter-the subcutaneous bruise is sensitive to touch. This is due to the Bony Contusion with traumatic cellulitis of the underlying tissue on shin.
d-I dont find any-possibility of fracture of shin bone by the facts told from you.
Advise-a-Still as you have to attend a game-plz consult a-ER-Surgeon,who would get the X-ry rt.leg and would confirm the hairline fracture ,if any.
b-In my opinion, the bony-contusion trauma with heamtoma- has resolved over last 3 wks time , and if X-ry comes normal, that would allow you to play the game.
-Alerts-It indicates the short saphenous varicose disease and needs to be treated by Vascular surgeon.Hence Consult a ER Surgeon- urgently and initiate proper investigation and treatment URGENTLY.
-Treatment -a-Consult A ER Surgeon who would treat it -With Tb NSAIDs, and Compression bandage and would get the Xry rt shin done.
b-If need be a ER-ortho surgeon would treat the bony injury if any-the probability of it is very less.
-Hope this would resolve your worry-some query.Wellcome again to HCM .Have a good day.
