Suggest Treatment For Sensitivity In The Teeth

Yes I have had sensitive teeth for many years now, but just recently they became overwhelmingly sensitive to everything. I am just trying to get them back to their normal sensitive state. (Normal for me). This was a very sudden event. Any suggestions other than a visit to a dentist. A dental visit will only subject me to unneeded xrays and unneeded cleaning since I take especially good care of my teeth. Like I said this was very sudden and the only thing I have done differently was visit south Texas over the last 2 weeks

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from severe dentinal hypersensitivity of teeth and it occurs due to opening of nerve endings leading to irritation of nerves and causes sensitivity..

In case if there is a generalized increase in sensitivity that is in all teeth then you need to start using desensitizing toothpaste twice daily, gently massage over the gums and leave for a minute and brush off with it..
You should also avoid extreme hot and cold foods..

In case if the condition still does not improve consult a dentist and you will need to get full mouth x ray done to rule out the cause and get treated accordingly.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Dental problems could arise even after taking good care of your teeth, as their development is multifactorial. Therefore regular checkup of dentition after 6 month is advised to rule-out problems..
As per your case, high sensitivity of teeth could be as a result of dental decay. Which would increase with time if not diagnosed and treated. With progression of caries a tooth may be needed to undergo an root canal treatment or even extraction. Therefore treatment of dental decay is better to be done now.
I would ask you to undergo an checkup, if no caries is found at the site of sensitivity, then sensitivity toothpaste (potassium nitrate containing) would be advised. You could also start using sensitivity toothpaste now even before visit.

Refer to your dentist
Hope this information helps
