Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I m 21 years old. Have severe tinnitus. Had it for probably ten years. Never been bothersome accept for the last couple years when it has increased. I have been exposed to loud noises through out my life but majority of this I have been using hearing protection. It has crept up on me the last couple years to the point that one of my ears is louder than pretty much everything! I have tmj but hasn t been that bothersome for about a year now. It used to be very painful and I started stretching my jaw and it seemed to get better. I still have the popping in one side of my jaw and a loud crack in the other side especially when yawning on that side. Even though most of the pain from my jaw has gone I still have mild headaches from my jaw and through to my temples about every second day. Usually one side at a time mostly the side that cracks . My jaw does feel constantly tense but it s not a huge issue. Usually put a heat pack on it to help. I do for short periods of time get slight ear aches and fullness in my troubled ear and it feels like a nerve pinching momentarily on my ear drum then stops. Oh by the way I ve had my hearing checked twice and it all seems to be normal! My bite feels off ever since I ve had braces also. Yawning makes it louder afterwards also for quite awhile. My question is. Do you think that my jaw could be a contributing factor to my tinnitus even though I don t experience a huge amount of pain? Thanks!
