Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have received a large amount of black fly bites. Most of them have caused extreme swelling and very large blisters. Should I "pop" the blisters or leave them? Many of the bites are on my feet and it is very painful to walk. There has been no difficulty breathing or dizziness. What can I do? Thank you!
As per your complain swelling and blister formation has occurred due to fly bites leaving it's sting and poison under the skin leading to inflammatory reaction causing swelling and blister formation..
In case of allergic reaction you need to take antihistamines like Allegra or benadryl.. In case of extensive symptoms injections of antihistamines can be taken for faster recovery..
Steroid therapy oral intake like Medrol twice daily can also help in reducing inflammation..
Topical application of steroid based ointments can reduce itching and burning..
In case of pain anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen can be taken.
Hope your query is solved..
