Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Bloating And Pain With Constipation
Hi, my name is Amber. I am 19 years old. I have had a swollen abdomen for 6 months. During that time there hasn t been a single day that the swelling has subsided. I am not pregnant, constipated or gassy. During the first few months I had sharp pains on both sides of my stomach, adjacent to my belly button. The pain lasted for less than a minute and felt like a stitch. It was almost always in the same place and occurred frequently (about 7-8 times a week). I haven t experienced the pain for months now. I have had a blood test and an ultrasound scan and the doctor told me that they didn t detect anything. I have tried taking IBS Tablets but they didn t make any difference. I am fairly sure that it isn t a food allergy as I have never experienced this in the past and I haven t introduced anything new to my diet. I have no idea what could be causing this so any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of severe abdominal bloating and pain with constipation which seems to be either infection or inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. It could be due to disturbed electrolyte imbalance in body and due to underlying systemic pathology. Need not to worry.
I would suggest you to start with proton pump inhibitors and antacids such as Pantoprazole along with domperidone. You should take oral rehydration solution for maintaining the hydration and electrolyte balance of the body. Avoid intake of large foods and try to prefer small and frequent meals. You should consult gastroenterologist once and get complete blood investigations done. Start treatment after proper diagnosis. Take plain and soft food and avoid hot, sharp and spicy food substances.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
