Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Cramps Post A Hysterectomy In An Elderly Person

I am 65 yrs old and had a total hysterectomy back in 1998. Recently I been getting cramps under my stomach and my lower back. I haven t done anything to pull a muscle and it seems to be more obvious after I eat. I ve had this discomfort for over a month now and my doctors appt isn t until the end of October. Of course the first thing I think of is cervical cancer but if I had a total hysterectomy, I would think that wouldn t be an issue. Can you kindly give me your opinion of what it could possibly be? I do go to the bathroom on a regular basis and have polyps in the past and did have a colonoscopy back 2 years ago and it was fine. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.
If symptoms persist better to consult a gynecologist and plan for an ultrasound to rule out any abscess or collection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
