Suggest Treatment For Severe Abdominal Pain In A Child

My 8 year old experiences bad stomach pains almost every morning while getting ready for school. It is before she eats or drinks anything. It makes her not want to eat. Usually subsides within an hour and will not happen again until the following morning. She is not a complainer so I know that she is in pain

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you should get her checked by a pediatrician, and run a few diagnostic tests like :

- complete blood count
- urine analysis
- abdominal ultrasound
- fecal analysis

After reviewing the results can decide the best treatment strategy. For the moment I can only suggest to:

- make her eat healthily
- take probiotics first thing in the morning
- increase fluids intake
- keep good personal hygiene especially after visiting the toilet and when preparing food

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
