Hi.
I've gone through your query and I can understand your anxiety.
Abdominal pain post surgery cannot be taken for granted. It needs immediate attention. It might be due to the condition called Stump appendicitis, which is a rare complication following
appendectomy. Here the residual portion of the appendix left behind during surgery gets inflamed & gives the same clinical presentation as that of
acute appendicitis.
History reveals you have abdominal pain, high grade fever too. So other complications like bleeding,
Wound infection,
peritonitis, blocked bowels or njury to nearby organs should be ruled out
I would advice you to
- Go to ER for a USG or CT abdomen
- Do blood leukocyte count which would be elevated in such cases
- Take analgesics
- Take adequate rest.
- Avoid lifting heavy weights
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.
Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
