Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Today I have felt really weird mostly my belly as it hurts when I press it or hold it in and sometimes when I cough and laugh. Today I breathed in and pressed on my belly before dinner and it didn t hurt but now after I eaten a couple hours ago I breathed in and pressed it and it hurt it was a little sharp pain not loads of pain just a hint and it has also started when I laugh and cough I have only coughed once
* As per my surgical experience, the severe abdomen pain around belly button increasing with coughing or laughing can be related to various issues as
- transient intestine spasm or colic ( non specific )
- abdomen muscle spasm
- gastric upset related with burden of gas in small intestine
- constipation related issue where gut tries to empty the fecal matter forward to relieve pressure
- minor edema from some sort of bacterial or viral infection
- early phase of organ pathology as appendicitis or others (which is least likely because of absence of vomiting and associated features) primary relief with anti spasmodic medicine as dicyclomine or drotaverine is best suggested.
Later on if the episode repeats again, consult a specialist as general surgeon or gastro surgeon who are best to handle the issue by their expertise.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
