Hello,
It would have been helpful if you have mentioned whether your mother is still having menstrual cycles or stopped having cycles. This information is very important as the endometrial thickness varies in different phases of the cycle. Also the cutoff for endometrial thickness is different in postmenopausal females. In her age of 50 years, it is a premenopausal age group.
It would have been helpful if you have mentioned whether the
ultrasound finding was an incidental one or was there any symptoms associated like vaginal bleeding,
weight loss, loss of appetite, etc. In an age group of 50 years, endometrial thickness of 15.44 is slightly on the higher side of normal if she is premenopausal and it is definitely high if she is postmenopausal.
Is she diabetic? Is she obese? If yes and there is associated vaginal bleeding, she definitely require an endometrial curettage and histopathological examination under the microscope to rule out a
endometrial carcinoma. If there are no symptoms she require a follow-up scan for assessing the endometrial thickness after 3 months and if it is increasing then she needs to be investigated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Meera Rajeev
