Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I HAVE A MALE FRIEND AGE 50 AND HE IS HAVING BAD PAIN IN HIS UPPER ABDOMEN. HE HAS HAD 3 CAT SCANS AND THEY CAN T FIND ANYTHING. THE PAIN NEVER GOES AWAY BUT HURTS WORSE WHEN HE EATS. HE SAYS IT FEELS LIKE SOMETHING IS SQUEEZING HIM ALL THE TIME. HE CAN T HARDLY WALK FOR THE PAIN. YYYY@YYYY
Squeezing pain is sometimes due to muscular spasms. Spasms of the esophagus can occur, this would not be seen on imaging.
In addition, he may also need to consider whether the pain is neurological in origin. Nerve related pain can present in a number of different ways and it can be severe.
He may need to consider seeing a neurologist for assessment.
There are medications that can help with muscular spasm or nerve related pain.
I hope this helps
