3 yrs ago I had a perfect endoscopy. The last year I developed acid reflux but didn t know Until now. I thought my hoarseness was my asthma and my heartburn was stress. I am having to drink water to get bread down. Not much problem with any other foods. Just had a very bad gerd flare up this last 2 months. Throwing up acid. Doctor prescribed pantoprozole. It worked. But I m still hoarse and food gets stuck at the bottom of my esophogus. Worried about esophpogeal cancer or Barrett s T
Long term untreated GERD may lead to consequences. An endoscopy is needed to see esophagus macroscopically, take biopsy and to exclude any possible hiatal hernia as a cause of GERD which is resolved surgically. Together with Pantoprazole, your doctor may prescribe you an antacid.
