Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have upper abdominal pain radiating through to my back for 3 days now. The past 2 nights it causes me not to sleep. In past couple weeks, I have had same symptoms when I lay down in bed. Now pain is so bad into my back, I tried chiropractor, pain reliever, tums, heat, ice, massage with no relief. I have fibromyalgia and a complicated history (2010) from a perforated bowel and subsequent hernia, bowel obstructions and pancreatitis. This doesn t feel like bowel obstruction. Is this from the fibromyalgia?
abdominal pain radiating to back is most characteristic of pancreatitis , increases on lying down. it may be related to fibromyalgia also but primary diagnosis should be pancreatitis . I can suggest you to get done sonogram , Serum amylase and lipase. it is better to get admitted in hospital and monitored because if it is a pancreatitis , it leads to fluid and electrolytes imbalance .
