General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Severe back pain might be due to slipped disc syndrome, degenerative disc disease or renal stones, muscle sprain etc. I advise you to:
- Take X-ray spine and lumbar region to find out the cause
- Take analgesics and muscle relaxants twice daily with antacid
- Take good bed rest and hot fomentation
- Avoid lifting heavy weights, bending or twisting your back and sitting for long time
- Lumbar corset and physiotherapy if needed

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya Vasudevan, General & Family Physician
